Nonpoint source pollution (NPF)
Fertilizer runoff from a farm is
an example of nonpoint source pollution. NPF emanate from many diffuse sources
such as land runoff, precipitation, and drainage. Nonpoint source pollution includes
excess fertilizers, salts from irrigation and toxic chemicals from urban
runoff. When runoff moves, it absorbs and transports pollutants into water
bodies such lakes, rivers and ground waters.
