When should I cross multiply fractions and when don’t I cross multiply?

You can cross multiply fractions only if there is an "=" sign in the middle of the two fractions.

you should cross multiply because when your figuring if two or more terms         (I think) are porportional and when your not cross multipling is when it is an easy question or finding an easier way to do it
