Some of the  colonists still had hope that the parliament would repel the taxing acts, since they had no right to institute internal taxes (to raise money) or external taxes (to regulate trade). After Britain passed the Intolerable Acts, faced resistance from the colonies and decided to blockade all trades done by moving the navy and troops into the colonies, there was little option for the colonists but to fight.
