We select two points to represent [tex](x_{1} ,y_{1})[/tex] and [tex](x_{2} , y_{2} )[/tex]. I'm choosing (-3,19) & (-1,11). So [tex]x_{1}=-3\\y_{1}=19[/tex] and [tex]x_{2}=-1\\y_{2}=11[/tex].

[tex]m=\frac{11-19}{-1-(-3)} =\frac{-8}{-1+3} =\frac{-8}{2} =-4[/tex]
