advantages- scientists can put together what the organism looked like based on the skeletal structure, they can also get an idea of what the organism ate, where they lived, and how they died
disadvantages- it takes some scientists/paleontologists an immeasurable amount of time to find these fossils of the specific organism. also, they cannot figure out the behavior of the species
