Answer:

1. When combining 5+2+3 it equals 10; and when solving 5+(2+3) you solve what's in the parenthesis first. So the new problem is 5+(5), which equals 10.

2. Same goes for the second one, 11-2 is 9, then you just add the a because both have the same variable
