To figure out if x = 2 is a solution, plug 2 in for x. If the left side is greater than 10, then x is a valid solution. If the left side is not greater than 10, than x is not a valid solution.

3x+5>10
3(2)+5>10
6+5>10
11>10

11 is actually greater than 10, so x=2 is a solution to this inequality
