To solve for the variable [tex]b[/tex] , we have to make it alone. The first thing we do is add [tex]6.5[/tex] to both sides of the equation:

[tex]13.7b-6.5+6.5=-2.3b+8.3+6.5\\13.7b=-2.3b+14.8[/tex]

Now add [tex]2.3[/tex] to both sides:

[tex]13.7b+2.3b=-2.3b+14.8+2.3b\\16b=14.8[/tex]

Finally, divide both sides by 16 to get the final answer:

[tex]\frac{16b}{16} =\frac{14.8}{16}[/tex]

Therefore,

[tex]b=0.3[/tex]

Hope this helps!
