What is the x-coordinate of the solution for the system of equations?

y - x = 9
10 + 2x = -2y

First solve for y:
y-x=9
y=9+x

Then substitute your answer for y into the other equation:
10+2x=-2(9+x)
10+2x=-18-2x
10+18=-2x-2x
