Find the degree of the polynomial 9x^3 y6 + 2.5xy + x^2 .

The degree of the polynomial is 9 ( not determined by the first number)
The degree of a polynomial is the highest exponent.
Here the highest exponent is 6 but since y is not a term on its own, you add the exponent of the term together.
