In lines y=mx+b, for them to be parallel they must have the same slope, m, in the equation of the line...

y=4x+1 and y=-4x+5  not parallel

y=x-2 and y=x-1  these lines are parallel

y=x/4+2 and y=x/2+2  not parallel

y=x/5+1 and y=-x/5+2 not parallel
