the distance formula

the distance between (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) is
[tex]D= \sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2} [/tex]
so
distnace between (5.7,2.6) and (-3,5.9) is
[tex]D= \sqrt{(-3-5.7)^2+(5.9-2.6)^2} [/tex]
[tex]D= \sqrt{(-8.7)^2+(3.3)^2} [/tex]
[tex]D= \sqrt{75.69+10.89} [/tex]
[tex]D= \sqrt{86.58} [/tex]

the distance from Q to R is √86.58 or aprox 9.3048374515624935767985185932756 units
