I suppose it is [tex] \frac{7}{8}- \frac{1}{x} = \frac{3}{4} [/tex]

Move 7/8 to the other side:

[tex]- \frac{1}{x} = \frac{3}{4} - \frac{7}{8}[/tex]

Simplify

[tex] -\frac{1}{x} = - \frac{1}{8} [/tex]

x = 8
