Abraham Lincoln was not yet in office when the war started but rather when he was chosen he talked on the war. He challenges Polk with "Spot Resolution". Lincoln did not attempt to end the war. Zinn claims that Lincoln neglected to boycott bondage in Washington DC, this isn't right. Congress restricted bondage there in 1862.
