The formula for the area of a triangle is Area=.5(b)(h)

So fill in what you know:

area for triangle = 1/2 x b x h

area = 120

height = 15

120 = 1/2 * b * 15

divide both side by 1/2

240 = b *15

divide both sides by 15

b = 240/15 = 16

 base is 16 inches

check: 1/2* 16 *15 = 120 sq. in.
