The example shown above of which the three year old son
wants to sleep in the crib again is regression. Regression in psychology is
being defined as of having to show a defense mechanism because of the reason
that an individual is having difficulty of facing unacceptable impulses such as
the son wanting to sleep on the crib because of having to see that the son was
now having a younger sister that is going to sleep on the crib.
