Suppose a parabola has vertex (-3,7) and pass throught the point (-2,11). write the equation of the parabola in vertex form.

Write out the information in the vertex form;

y=a(x-h)²+k 
y=a(x+3)²+7 <-- substitute the other coordinates to find the value of a 
11=a(-2+3)²+7 
11=a(1)²+7 
11-7=a 
4=a 

Therefore, this equation is; 

y=4(x+3)²+7
