A box of marbles can be shared equally among 6,7,or 8 students with 4 marbles left over each time.what is the least possible number of marbles In the box
I found the least common multiple which is 336 and added 4 to get 340. I tried dividing by all 3 numbers and got a remainder of 4 each time
To find the LCM , do the prime factorizations of each number and use those (no repeats - but there aren't any in this particular example) to find the LCM
6 = 2 x 3 7 = 1 x 7 8 = 2³ So we have 1 x 2⁴ x 3 x 7 = 336
