Kyoto protocol by the United Nations was aimed at reducing emissions affecting the climate. From 2008 to 2012 to fulfil the obligation europe reduced the green house gas emission by 8%. Germany and UK took major share of the responisibility of reduction. In 2002 all the members of EU ratified kyoto protocol.
