How to find the height of a triangle when given the base and hypotenuse?

use the Pythagorean theorem

[tex] {a}^{2} + {b}^{2} = {c}^{2} [/tex]
you substitute the base for either "a" or "b" and substitute "c" for the hypotenuse. then solve for b^2
