they could be spies sending info to the japanese, and that the internment camps were for the japanese people's safety

After the attack on Pearl racial prejudice was used against Japanese Americans because many Americans did not trust that citizens of Japanese descent could remain loyal to the U.S. Because of this, many Japanese Americans were placed into internment camps.
